Collection: Espalier Apples
Espalier apple trees are a decorative and functional way to grow apples – a central stem is trained upwards with a pair of horizontally trained branches fixed along wires.
Usually 2,3 or sometimes 4 branches to each side. Fruiting spurs are then encouraged along these.
Southern Fruit Trees specialise in growing espaliers, including step-overs (1 tier), 2, 3, 4 and 5 tiers.
When planting allow a minimum of 3m per espalier.
All our apple espaliers, apart from stepover trees, are grown on M26 rootstock which would produce a tree with between 2 and 6 tiers as required. All stepovers are on M9.
